The main resort (600 m) and cultural centre of the Pongau region is a resort rich in tradition, with a great atmosphere. The town, also a popular shopping centre, has approx. 10.300 inhabitants and offers centrally located accomodations.

Alpendorf

 Alpendorf is for the most part an independent "holiday oasis" in mainly higher categories. Approx. 3 km from the town centre of Sankt Johann, situated at an altitude of 800 m at the foot of the Gernkogel mountain (1,787m ).

Not only sport plays a major role here, children are also well catered for. The Alpendorf children's  paradise offers a zoo with animals you can really stroke, a giant slide, a cable railway, go-cart track, giant juming mat and much more.
